Our favorite character in the Giver was Gabriel because he almost dies. We also like him because he cute, adorable, and foils Jonas's escape plan. He has some trouble sleeping at night, and Jonas gave him some of his memories to calm him, so he could sleep. Gabriel must have been important enough to be saved by Jonas, and for Jonas's dad to find out his name, which was "illegal."
Our favorite character in The Giver was Jonas. He showed resilience and determination when faced with a choice. He could either leave the community for the unknown world outside, or live a life of keeping secrets, telling lies, and not being able to express his feelings or emotions. But when the life of Gabriel was in jeopardy, he knew the decision that he had to make. He selflessly left the only place he had ever known to save the life of another. That is why Jonas is our favorite character. He was selfless, brave, and determined to do what was right.
